Union - Staff Meeting Jan 23, 2024 1000 - WDT RULES

Task books are only good for 3 years.

Staff not interested in crosswalk for Crew Boss Certification, will not sign off.

Staff interested in discussing crosswalk for FF1.

Staff brings up the idea of making FF1 taskbook completion a minimum requirement for WDT and possible mandatory crew boss task book open for move up and company officers.

Eligible crew boss must be at least current move up.

Staff wants to move away from preference given to trainee.

Staff also wants to increase the number of both trainees and crew bosses.

Staff is in agreement that any deployment of staff personnel in a crew boss position will only occur after all UNION members qualified to fill the crew boss position have declined the deployment. This will allow more UNION members a change for deployment. 

Staff states that without 4th man trainee, more line personnel would get to go out. 3 on type 6 and 3 on type 4 with an AB crew meets the 8 allotted on deployment. Staff may consider extending that number to 10 depending on the situation.

Staff states that any discrepancy with a trainee not getting things signed off when they feel that they should have must be brought up in a timely fashion. 

Any discrepancy with position for position backfill should be brought up in a timely fashion, utilize chain of command and union reps if possible. Keep in mind that there are exceptions to this rule that limit the amount of monies CIF puts out vs what is reimbursable by IDL.

There are currently 13 captains on WDT with 4 of those being ENGB and 2 ENGB-T. (one trainee was removed due to inactivity and timed out)

There are 2 move up captains one is ENGB and one is ENGB-T

There are 2 NON-UNION staff members who are both ENGB
